ICONIC: THE VERDANSK MAP IN CALL OF DUTY WARZONE

Since the Call of Duty Warzone launch last year, the previous few maps have been a hit with players. The original Verdansk map is a beautiful but underutilized location. It has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay and sightseeing. However, in particular, one area has been frustrating for new players due to its size and open space. Despite mainly being superbly designed, this specific area is challenging because it forces you to awkwardly sprint from one building to the other while avoiding shots from the opposing team. Activision recently released a new trailer to improve gameplay in that area, confirming that they've made some changes to Verdansk's Downtown to make it more competitive.

The entire Verdansk downtown area is afflicted with urban blight

Verdansk was known for its wide-open streets, large buildings, and easy rooftop access for snipers looking to pick off enemies, making it fun and frustrating for players to traverse through the map. It gave snipers the upper hand if they chose to camp out on one of the taller buildings because it allowed them plenty of vantage points to take out players who were entering their line of sight. However, this new update changed that area into a destroyed urban blight throughout the entire city.

NOW, EVERYONE MUST LEARN HOW TO MOVE AROUND IN AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT

With new buildings, higher rooftops, and destroyed vehicles littering the streets of Verdansk, the map is now designed to force players out into the open spaces where their opponents are bound to see them before they even enter certain areas of Downtown. Only those who use keen observation skills will have a chance of spotting them first. This new environment has made it significantly easier for snipers because there are fewer places for enemies to seek refuge from afar without being seen. However, it also makes life more difficult for both squads and opponents if you're on foot running through Downtown since there are hardly any safe spaces for you to stop and duck behind buildings.

This new update significantly increases the speed at which players can navigate through Verdansk and makes more opportunities available for those who use wall-running and double jumping to reach rooftops & windowsills. These skills are beneficial when trying to surprise someone because it allows you to silently climb up to a position where they least expect you which gives you the upper hand in close quarters combat. It's almost like hiding in plain sight since there are so many different ways players can get around naturally without sprinting everywhere. The only downside is that this level of freedom once again rewards skilled snipers with high vantage points where their bullets travel faster than usual, making long-range weapon fire more challenging to aim and fire.

THE MAP'S DESIGN HELPS YOU TO FIND YOUR WAY FROM POINT A TO POINT B

Between the larger buildings, lack of trees and bushes everywhere, and destroyed vehicles throughout Downtown, you can see your opponents long before they even come into your view. So, if you're using a close-quarters assault rifle such as an ACR or FAL-SS, then expect to land plenty of headshots this season because it makes navigating through the map faster than ever. However, snipers who use bolt-action rifles like the M1 Garand or 1944 Enfield have a significant advantage in open spaces since enemies take longer to spot them.

A CUSTOMIZABLE TRUCK HAS BEEN USED

Granted, this isn't that big of a change, but it is noticeable enough to have more options when running over your opponents to get the upper hand during matches. It's much better than driving around in a tank because there aren't any shots powerful enough to take down someone from afar when they're going through Downtown at top speed. However, you can still shoot through windows & windshields if you happen to be right behind one while opposing team members hang onto the sides, which gives you plenty of opportunities to take them down with close-range fire.

When it comes down to it, this is one of the best updates that Call of Duty WARZONE has received yet since there are so many different ways that players can traverse through Verdansk without having to sprint everywhere. It makes life easier for everyone because you're not restricted to specific paths or routes when trying to reach your destination without first getting spotted by enemy forces. The only downside is that long-range weapon fire is more challenging than usual due to the slower projectiles, but if you keep practicing, it should give you an edge against squads who rely on SMGs & shotguns up close personal. Just make sure to keep moving around constantly to avoid getting hit by bullets because it might not be worth the risk for someone who isn't that great at dodging incoming fire.

BOMBSHELL DROPPED IN WARZONE SEASON 6 TRAILER

A new trailer for Warzone Season 6 was released on September 28, featuring references to the Black Ops series. Aside from the plot elements, the trailer also reveals a significant gameplay modification. A bomb goes off Downtown in the trailer, causing nearly all structures to collapse and the Stadium opposite. The Downtown area will be destroyed. It's uncertain what kind of consequences this will have when the following season begins, but it may be just what Verdansk needs since Downtown is notoriously difficult to navigate.

The variety that distinguishes Verdansk from the rest is also an element that makes it so much enjoyable. From the open fields of the Stadium to the claustrophobic alleys of Downtown, each location has a distinct personality that fosters a variety of tactics. The map is a prime example of how a COD map should be designed to preserve this variety while being fun and engaging throughout the match's entirety.

Downtown Verdansk fails in a variety

For many players, Downtown is the least enjoyable area on Verdansk. While it holds its own when making an engaging close-quarters fight, getting from point A to point B can be frustrating when your path includes narrow corridors with little room for flanking or escaping. This leads to long firefights that usually turn into camp fests between the two sides, so many players hate this area.

It's not hard to see why so many players are frustrated by Downtown. When playing Search and Destroy, for instance, even one wretched spawn can ruin your entire round. There's no telling when an enemy might spawn behind you while you're looking the other way. If that happens once or twice, it could be chalked up to the luck of the draw. On the other hand, three consecutive occurrences necessitate that there is a problem with the game design.

What are the ramifications of the loss of Downtown?

In Call of Duty WARZONE's first trailer for Season 6, we saw a glimpse of the new map. The first eye-catching thing is how destroyed the whole city seems to be. There are no intact buildings left, and it's on fire. Not sure what this means for gameplay. It appears that there aren't any tall buildings left, which means that there won't be as many vantage points as before. However, Downtown does have a lot of cash and loot in a condensed spot, meaning players have a chance to quickly overtake the location and collect their loadouts before anyone else. One thing disappointing is that Downtown doesn't have a lot of covers. In the trailer, we see players getting shot from across the map with no chance of avoiding damage due to their lack of protection. Overall, it'll be interesting to see who will control this map and how long they can keep it under their command.

Players avoid Downtown due to the crowdedness

Call of Duty WARZONE Season 6 trailer titled Verdansk Downtown Destroyed, this video is fascinating because it shows the destruction that has taken place in Verdansk, where Downtown is located. Many people like to go Downtown because it's very lively and busy, but others avoid it because it can be hectic. It also seems like Activision has tried to keep the Downtown area mostly the same for a long time now because of how popular it is with people. Despite how popular Downtown is, many people are divided on whether they love or hate it based on their controversies. The shift to Verdansk '84 left most of Downtown intact, so it's a surprise that Activision decided to start this new season with a revamped version of Downtown. Many people have been waiting for a new update on Downtown because it is trendy but controversial, so it makes sense that they would do something to improve the area. We hope that Downtown will become easier to navigate through, at least since many people visit the area. It would be interesting if some of these collapsed buildings could still be entered. It would make for a better Warzone experience and make Downtown less hectic and more balanced, which we should expect to see from this new season.
